Concrete removal from car paint in London

Here at Auto Mobile Valet we have over 35 years experience in removing concrete, mortar and lime deposits and other contaminants including paint splashes from the exterior paintwork of cars and vans. In this instance an existing client asked us to attend a site in London where, despite their best efforts and the builder supplying car covers to the neighbours, two cars had been splashed with concrete. Having worked with the client before and with him sending a series of photos of the damage we were able to agree a price for the work remotely and make a booking quickly.

Removing concrete or mortar is challenging, some car owners will think their car is ruined and will need to be repainted but this is not the case. The problem is as concrete or mortar dries it bonds to the paintwork and cannot be removed using a contact wash process as moving a sponge or wash mitt over the surface of the car will move the particles of sand over the paintwork scratching the paint and causing more damage. (This damage can often be removed by machine polishing if someone has already tried to wash the car before we arrive). If your car has concrete, mortar or lime deposits on the paintwork and you don’t know what you are doing please do not wash it with a sponge or wash mitt as you will probably make things worse.

Preventing future concrete damage

In order to avoid further problems whist removing the concrete  we use a special mix of chemicals and a series of contactless wash processes (not touching the car) developed over the last 30 years to soften the concrete or mortar lifting it away from the surface of the paint. This may have to be repeated many times to safely remove all the concrete or mortar.  Only once the concrete or mortar has been dissolved it is washed away from the surface of the paint using snow foam (another contactless wash system). The car be thoroughly checked over inch by inch and a regular contact wash process can begin. The car’s paintwork is snow foamed and rinsed again and then washed using a regular wash process.  After a final inspection we would normally recommend the paintwork is polished using Autoglym Super Resin Polish to reapply a layer protection (as we did here).

Concrete removed and final polish

After a full day on site all traces of the concrete spillage have been removed and the cars polished and protected from the elements. Both cars look better than before, the owners of the two cars were delighted with the results and the contractor has happy neighbours again.

As our vans are fitted with both a power and water supply we are able to carry out his service almost anywhere in South East England including London, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, Berkshire.  If your car has concrete or mortar on the paintwork please get in touch ideally with some photos.
