Preparing a Volvo XC60 for Lease Return In Surrey

When returning a leased vehicle, ensuring it meets the lease company’s standards can save customers significant money in excess wear-and-tear charges.

Below, we detail how our professional valetingand detailing service prepared a client’s car for lease return, ensuring a smooth process and avoiding unnecessary penalties.

Client Overview

Our existing client lives in a rural location on the outskirts of Dorking, Surrey and regularly has to drive down narrow country lanes. She contacted us as her Volvo XC60 was coming to the end of its lease and she was trying to avoid excess charges (having been hit with these when returning her last lease car) After a brief phone consultation we decided that the car should be thoroughly washed and the interior thoroughly cleaned. We also recommended that the near side of the car was machine polished to remove the scratches caused by bushes on the side of the road.

Step-by-Step Process

Initial Wash

A quick walk round the car confirmed the condition of the car and that we were going to be able to remove the light scratches as the client was quite concerned about being charged for this damage.

Exterior Detailing

Our team focused on restoring the exterior paintwork and wheels.  The wheels, arches, door shuts and fuel filler cap were cleaned and the bodywork covered in snow foam. The snow foam sits on the paintwork for several minutes freeing the dirt from the surface of the paint and is then rinsed off ensuring as much of the grit is removed from the car before we touch it (moving grit around your car’s paint with a sponge causes scratches and swirl marks).

After a thorough rinse the car is washed using a wash mitt and rinsed again before drying with a soft drying towel.

The whole of the near side of the car had suffered from small scratches caused by bushes on the side of the road and this was removed using a machine polisher. A quick check over the rest of the car had a couple of minor marks which were removed free of charge.

Interior Valeting

We refreshed the car’s interior to bring it back to near-new condition. Having removed the rubber mats (which were pressure cleaned) the whole interior is given a thorough vacuum including seats, carpets, under the boot carpet and all pockets. The headlining (inside the roof) was cleaned and all interior surfaces (dashboard, door panels, centre console etc) carefully cleaned. In this instance the client had opted for the leather seats to be cleaned and the carpets to be shampooed as the interior of the car had seen some heavy use and we wanted to ensure the lease company would not have a reason to charge extra fees.

Final Checks

Once we were happy with the interior and exterior the windows are polished inside and out and the car is given a thorough final inspection.

Results

The vehicle was transformed and met all lease return standards avoiding extra charges for repairing the scratches on the side of the car, any excessive charges for wear and tear.
